Freerando starting from Le Chazelet

From the top of the Emparis ski lift, you have a great view over the whole area to plan your route, take your skins on and off and choose your runs. Bliss! Les Plagnes, to the north of the resort, is perfectly placed for joining up with the ridge of the Signal de La Grave and go further if you’re feeling good and your calf muscles are up to it!

This departure point is on Le Chazelet ski area :
Le Chazelet is known as a small, family-orientated resort, yet its peaceful appearance conceals a fabulous potential for free-rando that will really get your skins going. At the moment, only a lucky few know about it, but Le Chazelet is already “the place to be” once the “White Spirit” gets going.

ROUTES from Emparis skilift and les Plagnes skilift :

• Le Tour du Gros Têt
  From the top of the Emparis ski lift, go along the southern ridge and on to the Col de la Brèche (2350 m) and the top of the Gros Têt (2613 m). The descent is up to you, either down the east face along the right-hand side of the stream and back onto the piste or else double back on yourself and choose your line… to start all over again.

• La Traversée du plateau d'Emparis
  From the top of the Emparis ski lift, go up to the top of the Gros Têt following the ridge and crossing the Emparis plateau to the Col Saint Georges (2245 m). Then enjoy the run down the GR path to Besse-en-Oisans (extra car required).

• Le Signal de La Grave
  Follow the Crête de Côte Rouge to the top of the Signal de La Grave (2446 m). It’s then up to you to chose your line down to the hamlet of Valfroide. Extra car required to return to Le Chazelet.
  Optional climb up to the Col de l'Aiguillon (+ 220 m) and ski down to Villar d'Arène (extra car required).
