Beginners workshop in fretwork and wood sculpture

Marcel will introduce you to the different stages of a making a subject from wood, including the choice of theme and drawing, cutting, assembly and painting. You will therefore learn how to give a soul to a subject through its shape, volume and expression.

Marcel GRESSE, a craftsman in Bourg d'Oisans, creates one-of-a-kind pieces, all cut and carved from solid wood. He uses an ancestral "Antarsia" method, the art of which is to give life to a subject.
This initiation is part of the "Route des savoir-faire de l'Oisans". This route brings together all the craftsmen, artists, producers and cultural sites in the Oisans region who have agreed to open the doors of their workshops, farms or museums, to share their know-how with the public. The "Route des savoir-faire de l'Oisans" is a gateway to Oisans mountain culture, its rich heritage and its many and varied skills. As you travel along its routes, you'll discover a variety of landscapes and endearing personalities, whose workmanship and products you'll appreciate.

Demonstrations available outside the workshop for groups. From a half-day to a full day.
